Don't have time for a full post but wanted to show ya'll something, so here's a Gyaos wallpaper for computers everywhere, big or small. I had a Japanese penpal in the 1970's and we'd exchange stuff and this was a Gyaos model kit he sent me. Unfortunately I no longer have the model itself. I still have the instructions...

from the instructions alone that Gyaos model looked pretty sweet. the image at the top of yer post is gonna be my screen saver at work for the next week or so. was it the from the model's box?
glad you like. the artwork is indeed from the box. and you like Hawkwind. that's cool.
I watched my copy of Gamera vs Gyaos just the other day! Then I put on the first new Gamera where he fought the Gyaos. Wow, what a movie!
Fun, fun, fun, old and new!
Thanks for sharing the box and directions! Cool stuff.
Gamera vs. Gyaos(or Return of the Giant Monsters as it was retitled by AIP)was the first Japanese Monster film i ever saw, when i was eight. it had quite an effect on me. since it was such a favorite of mine, it was so great that Gamera, Guardian of the Universe was so respectful of it while it was also revolutionizing modern Kaiju-Eiga. one of the rare occasions where a remake can co-exist peacefully with the original!
I agree, the modern Gyaos remake is tons of fun.
These old model kits had the best painted boxart of all time. What exactly did the "clock work" do though?
it gave my creation- LIIIIIIIIFE!!!
um, it made it walk. sort of.
