This story is out-and-out creepy! I loved it. Isn't this based on British folklore, a la Sawney Beane or Sweeney Todd?

yes. also, as a point of interest, some folks wrongly assume Spring-Heel Jack was a nickname for Jack The Ripper and assume the Ripper went leaping about too!

Could you show us the John Bell Witch story please? I use to flip through those pages when I was a kid as it scared the holy heck out of me.

I am yer slavish admirer at any rate. I wish I still had my copy of that issue. Loves that spring heel jack. Also Jeremy Benthams ghost, but that's another story (in measured headless happiness).

This comic book story I have from my early youth.... as a small child I researched on "Jack" ...and other "real" monsters.....
I had begun to study Greek, Roman Norse And Scandinavian Mythologies by second grade... and on to Archeology by 4th grade..... Really great posts One of May.... Keep up the Great work From your "fiend" and new follower Dr. Theda
