Thimk was a Mad magazine clone that only lasted a few issues but like Cracked consorted with monsters for a few pages each issue, sometimes. This is scraping the bottom of the 50s-60s Monster Craze barrel a bit but if you are completely unfamiliar with Otis Dracenstein and his plight you might find this post to be of passing interest at least or a fascinating glimpse into another dark, low-budget corner of Monster Kid madness...
It gets better as it goes along, sort of...
When the following story was first published, Rock 'n' Roll was only four years old...
The publisher's son, no doubt...but I still want that t-shirt!

Jesus, do I want that T-shirt! -- Mykal
Who knew?
This also predates The Munsters by 5-6 years. The art is loads of fun in the second Otis tale, any idea who illustrated this?
And yes, the shirt! Haha, Charles Witless...
Thanks for showing this, Prof. I remember Thimk from when it was being published and thought it was a real rag. My opinion hasn't changed over five decades.
Like you and the other folks, I dig that crazy t-shirt!
Kars- couldn't find ANY info on Thimk using the usual methods, i'm hoping someone in the know will come up with the answer- Pappy?...
Pappy- if i figure out how to reproduce this shirt i could make $$$! just THIMK of it!...
I remember you used to see these things that were meant to set on your desk, and be motivational and they said "Think" and somebody came out with a joke version that said..."Thimk!"
cool
There are blogs and there are BLOGS. This is a BLOG. Jawdroppingly amazing. Thanks for doing what you do.
this is the kind of comment i like!
you had to really work for a Tee shirt like that back then..Beg mom for the money to buy it,put up with moms reasons why its just junk and not worth it,beg mom to take you to the post office to get a money order, mail order, wait nearly a month or more for something you may or may not recieve!..I remember ordering super 8 films from Captain Company in FM magazine, waiting a month and getting the 8mm version instead!takes forever to get things straightend out..patience and self control was the name of the game back in the day...
true enough...the first copy of the Famous Monsters Speak lp i ordered from Captain Co. arrived in two pieces!
I had some time to just mess around this evening and I tried to reproduce the t-shirt design. I just guessed at what the copy was. Actually, it would be cooler to leave off the "read" and "Magazine."
T-Shirt recreation
