This was a cool story, and thanks for adding the other link too. I wonder why the Ripley's version left out the detail of the men becoming possessed and fighting each other though? Reminds me of Quatermass and the Pit a little, people being consumed by some long buried savage compulsion.
At the bottom of your post you say the myth was exposed, is there supposed to be a link there? I'm not seeing anything. Exposed or not, this would make a good movie, and I'm surprised the Russians haven't already made one, or maybe they have?
i was implying that the Russian Demon was actually a Scary, Life Size Monster Ghost(also known as a U-Control Ghost)that you could order through the mail and that one of the sailors was pulling a prank. it was supposed to be funny. :D! oh well... ;)
