Jan & Dean Meet Batman #130 - Batman's Deadly Birthday (Mono)

What's all the excitement about? Well, gang, as far as I know this is the only Mono version of *Jan & Dean Meet Batman* that's been posted on the Inter-Bat that isn't on a lemme-see-what-you-got-first torrent site, plus I've included a story from my coverless copy of Batman #130 that's just about as silly as this record. So, Happy Birthday, Somebody, Somewhere!...

Holy Hodad, Batman!...

Is anybody else having a kinky li'l fantasy about Batwoman & Bat-Mite right about now?...

I don't even know if mine is stereo!

Their version of the tv show theme is the greatest. This album deserves some kind of recognition, dangit.

i think the reason J&D don't "fit in" is because their output was so damn variable, from highly amusing to downright lame, and the fact that their sense of humor ruled the day and not everybody appreciates "humor in music" unless it's the put-down type like Frank Zappa's, whereas J&D mostly only ever made fun of themselves and their own genre, so it's very in-joke-y. Brian Wilson dug 'em though and was encouraged to inject that same sort of humor in his own recordings. knowing something about surf music history and it's main perpetrators, i think it's pretty funny, myself. the idea of making fun of the Batmania of the 60s and cashing-in on it at the same time was pop-savvy as hell but i don't think it was perceived as such at the time...
