Collegeville "Economy-Line" Costumes

From "wee folk" to "poor folk" i guess...
i know my first store-bought costume was a skeleton and i think it's on this page...

"You Brute, you Brute, you Brute!"
(sorry...)
I just realized my crappy scanner really sucks. Sorry again!
Next...Monster-Glo and Coming & Going(?) Costumes!

  1. That "Brute" looks awfully familiar. Why the hell not just come out and say he's Frankenstein? Was there some kind of copyright hang-up over the name in 1966?

  2. no, but there was Universal ready to clamp down on anything that too closely resembled their copyrighted version of the Monster, i imagine. but on the next page...

  3. That Hobo is pretty terrifying! I wonder why we don't sell kids' costumes that marginalize the homeless anymore? It's a gold-mine!

Also, I'm pretty sure I had that AntiCasper costume at one point or another.

Man, these bring back memories...I remember going into the local Osco Drugs and seeing a bunch of these masks (sans boxes and tunics) hung on pegboard, row after row, ready for trying-on and the breaking of rubber bands. It was magical.

  4. there is a page coming up in the catalog that will really "peg" that memory, stay tuned!

i'll never forget the year i was old enough to grasp this "Halloween" concept- i marched into the nearby TG&Y and beheld...the Halloween aisle! candy, costumes, decorations, i was lost for good!

    thanx for dropping by!
