Thanx to Karswell, I now know The Mask is out on DVD so i thought i'd post this nice selection of scenes & synopsis from Horror Monsters #3 to celebrate. Lucky you!
Great post! It's amazing to me, being a monster kid from way back, that I've never even heard of this mag... and I thought I knew them all!
I like "The Mask" and look forward to getting the DVD so I can see the 3D better than the old VHS tape I have of it. Jim Carrey is cool! (Just kidding.) "Put... the mask... on NOW!"
How did you come about getting these magazines.... did you get them off the stand as an actual kid, or did you find them later, second-hand?
the last issues of Horror and Mad Monsters appeared in '64, so they were a little ahead of my time. i was 4 in '64. the first monster magazine i ever bought was the first issue of Famous Monsters i laid eyes on, which was #83. this was in early 1971. a profound experience! i subscribed and started ordering back issues. a couple of years later, i discovered The Monster Times and others. i had no idea Horror Monsters existed until the internet and ebay came along. you can guess what happened after that!
Very cool of you to post this... I added an update to my Mask DVD news post to let people know they should check this out.
ReplyDeletei appreciate that!
ReplyDeletein case anyone cares, i fixed the Cult Of Horror Club ad from Horror Monsters #8 so it once again expands...
