I decided I liked the tint job they did on this story so here it is as it originally was, now I'm off to fix the previous post too(and add a little bonus)!...
For more Grandenetti ala Eisner, check out The Horrors Of It All's latest post- here!
They didn't even know back then how much scarier Tiny Tim would become!...
When I saw yesterday's post I thought that my memory must be completely shot, because I thought that the story had originally appeared on colored paper (yellow) and with an ink color other than black. Thank you for proving that I have a few memory cells left!
ReplyDeleteyou're welcome! i don't know why i didn't leave the tint in in the first place, i guess i thought it might just look like page age...
ReplyDeleteI understand your concern: yellow pages from a 40+-year-old magazine? What else could it be but "page age"? :-) I bought this magazine when I was 10 years old, and it had everything to satisfy a young monster fan: scary comics; funny pictures; Bela Lugosi; Boris Karloff; Universal movies; Hammer movies; Peter Cushing. I know that this sounds nearly blasphemous, but it stands out more in my mind than most issues of FM do (even though FM had the larger and longer lasting impact). Thanks again.
ReplyDeleteha ha...I remember that Tiny Tim picture the first time..but couldn't place where I'd seen it..You're digging into my past here!
ReplyDeletei wondered what that smell was... :)
ReplyDeleteBetween you and Karswell, it's a Grandenetti extravaganza! This post, along with the post at THOIA, all but demand a Grandenetti renaissance. so cool you left the tint in (such a purest). Great post!!!
ReplyDeletewhen i was a young'n Grandenetti's style was too much for me, now i can appreciate it for what it is, wonderfully detailed madness completely suitable for the subject matter!...
